de Jeroni F. Granell i Manresa

Descendent of an important dynasty of architects and master builders, Jeroni Granell (1867-1931) is one who has contributed most to Barcelona’s, with the Eixample, becoming the world capital of Modernism. Visits to some of his buildings constitute a tour of the most authentic and beautiful of Modernistic Barcelona: number 121 Balmes street, 582 Gran Vía, 122 Girona street, 45 Casp street, 35, 61, 262 and 264 Major de Gràcia, 84 Roger de Llúria, 293 Rosselló, 127 Bailèn and 260 Còrsega street, are examples of the perfect symbioses produced among the architects dedicated to creating beauty and the bourgeoisie prepared to meet the cost to enjoy it. Granell’s message stresses thoroughness, simplification and elegance. He also works with ceramics and is a master of stained glass.

Vitrales en la casa Lleó i Morera de Barcelona.

Thus Granell is the creator of the most famous and definitely most beautiful stained glass work in Modernism: the “zenithal” windows in the “Palau de la Música Catalana”.
