Born in Sant
Vicenç de Fals, a town in the Bages district, Lluís Muncunill (1868-1931)
settled in the city of Terrassa in 1892, where he was to carry out almost
all his professional activities: 42 catalogued buildings, most of which were
imposing Modernist buildings. Terrassa is one of the great Catalan cities of
the nineteenth and early twentieth century Industrial Revolution where first
class industrial architecture flourished with Lluis Muncunill as its main
creator and figure. The warehouse “Almacén Farnés” (1905), the factory
“Aymerich, Amat i Jover” (1907), “ Sociedad General de Electricidad” (1908),
“Talleres Gibert i Junyent” (1911) and “Fábrica Acondicionamiento Terrasense”
factory (1916) are some of his most important works. |
