Although his
legacy is somewhat limited as regards number of works, this Barcelona artist
(1886-1937) has won a place in the annals of architecture for sound
proposals and was also one who combined architecture with literature and
philosophical thought. “Casa Sayrach” (1918), 423 Diagonal, Barcelona, was
his great work in architecture. This building shows how Sayrach re-interpreted
Gaudí’s style to make it his own with great imagination. Years after, in
1926, he erected another splendid building on the site next to it (although
the façade is in Enric Granados street), which enhances the beauty and
impact of the combined buildings. |
